A spanish designer Martin Azua has designed an Awesome Urn  which Will Turn You into a Tree After You Die

His urn is made from coconut shell, compacted peat and cellulose and inside it contains the seed of a tree.
Once your remains have been placed into the urn, it can be planted and then the seed germinates and begins to grow. You even get the choice to pick the type of plant you would like to become, depending on the kind of planting space you prefer.

I would love to have this done. I still dont know what kind of tree, but a big beautiful one. Society will look at me and say, “So beautiful” and I’d be like, “Thanks, you should have seen me when I was alive”

“Thanks, you should have seen me when I was alive” LOL.

This kind of implies that someone will water that tree after you die, and not over water it—you know, garden it. Unless it’s planted in its natural habitat, I guess, in which case the sapling might get eaten by an animal or die in a fire or be out competed by other saplings and trees—
what I’m saying is, I’m pretty sure no one I know will be arsed to take care of a tree nourished by my fire-decimated corpse once I die. Unless this is in some sort of dead people garden like a cemetery but with trees, in which case I wouldn’t be able to afford it.

Something about this idea vaguely doesn’t sit right with me - there’s something pretentious about it that I can’t quite put my finger on. Like, look, I like the idea of going back to letting humans decay and become part of the Earth again, but I think if your goal is to “return to the Earth” then it seems contradictory to specially select a tree in which your ego can live on.
Maybe I’m missing something here.
